Why support us

Rainbow Watch and Development Centre was established as a grassroots Community-Based Organization (CBO) –first as Rainbow Volunteers (RV); a group of young activists and social crusaders then formed RV to address prevailing human rights violations, gender imbalance, social and environmental injustice in Nigeria; and to reduce conflicts through dialogue in the Niger Delta Region. Now, RWDC operates as a Non-Profit, Non-Political, and Non-Governmental Organization, in accordance with the applicable laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. RWDC operates in Nigeria’s Niger Delta states, working on the core areas of promoting social justice, community development, human rights, HIV/AIDS mitigation/health, governance transparency/accountability, and environmental integrity/climate change. Our Vision is a society where equitable social justice is attained for children, women, and men; and our mission is: to promote good governance, enhance good health, and to achieve social and environmental justice. RWDC is an incorporated trustee under Part C of the Companies and Allied Matters Decree No. 1 of 1990 and is registered as a charity under the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which is an equivalent of the 501 (c) (3) statute of the United States America (USA) governing charity status. It has 8 dedicated and committed staff in its employ (both administrative and programs), and receive grants from both local and international organization that share similar aims and objectives with her. The board meets annually and it is also active in its advisory capacity Rainbow Watch and Development Centre’s impacts on our communities include: (a) Community education leading to human rights promotion (b) building a strong network for stakeholders collaboration leading to strengthened social action for justice (c) Empowerment of communities leading to global action on enhanced environmental governance and ecological conservation planning and action (d) Community empowerment through sustainable livelihoods, and (e) Rural women empowerment through sustainable agro-based livelihoods promotion. Your support will help our organization operates and meets the needs of our target beneficiaries in the communities we serve.
