Youth and Women for Opportunities UgandaYWOU is an innovative charitable NGO founded and led by Volunteers in Uganda whose initiatives address health and wellbeing, NCD’s, access to quality education, Health, economic growth through agriculture, WASH, and women development. YWOU was established in 2014 to provide support to the weakest social groups such as Youth, AGYW, children, women, girls, sex workers, orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs), public health ambassadors (PHAs) and Most At Risk Populations (MARPS).
YWOU collaborates and networks with district health offices, VHT’s, health centers and community structures such as schools, churches, mosques, markets and community based development offices, and in the with local communities to provide holistic community-based health services to the families and communities in need especially for people who are living with HIV/AIDS, COVID-19, Diabetes, Hypertension, TB and Malaria and other diseases such as mental health conditions.
With the rising prevalence of NCDs in Uganda and especially in the most impoverished parts in Teso, YWOU is especially focused on improving the quality of lives of Ugandans and reducing disability or pre-mature mortality caused by NCDs with focus on access to quality, sustainable and equitable services.
